Noida Weekend O’ Fun

ATS waterfalls! On Saturday and Sunday we invited our friends over for a little Noida vacation, complete with pool, sun, tennis, Wii, YouTube surfing and awesome Index Night (Indian Mexican). Our homemade burritos and chips & salsa were spectacular, but much props go to D for concocting some kickass cranberry/OJ/lime margaritas that turned out much better than we expected.

In the afternoon on Sunday I grabbed my guitar and headed to Lodhi Gardens to enjoy the rest of the day, with new friends in tow!

Holi! On Saturday we went to a crazy Holi party at a farmhouse out past IGI airport towards Gurgaon. There were wet colors, dry colors, loud music and open bars. Hence, shenanigans commenced. Officially the party went from noon until midnight, but I didn’t get there until about 3:30 (by which point my friends were already pretty colorful and quite silly). I was immediately brought up to par with everyone else in terms of body decoration and promptly joined in on the fun of doing the same thing to complete strangers. We even engaged in a few rolling wrestling matches in huge puddles of water caused by the sprinkler system.

There was no way I was bringing my camera, so be sure to check out all of the pics on D’s blog!

Holi Office Insanity, Batman!

The Indian festival of Holi got an early start at our office today. My employees gleefully covered me with colors. This is what they call “playing” Holi. Last year I was in a bad mood and didn’t play with them, so they were especially excited and messy when I embraced the absurdity of it all today! Check out the pics.

Food, fun and movie nights!

Pics from the weekend and midweek, hanging out with the friends! I introduced a bunch of new people to sushi @ Tamura on Saturday, and they in turn showed me to a good time at a dive bar near Connaught Place. It had a hallway made entirely of mirrors. And was awesome. Tonight was my first trip to a new Expat Movie Night, which turned out to be particularly relaxing due to great weather and a nice breeze on the rooftop. We watched the controversial Indian movie “Fire“, which is about two lesbian lovers married to sub-par husbands who are brothers (making them sisters-in-law). It has no singing and dancing, plenty of on-screen kissing, and bare breasts in a sex scene, and was made around 1998. I’m not kidding! It’s got to be a conspiracy to bring down the Indian culture from within. Canada.

Today I went with Albert to get some body waxing. After a good 30 minutes of internal debate, I decided to give it a try as well – despite the fact that I barely have enough hair to justify the 900 rs. price tag! Unfortunately, my low level of body hair didn’t prevent the whole process from hurting like hell. I probably owe this to the fact that I sorta forgot about the mild sun burn I have.

Albert might go back tomorrow to do his arms. I’m really not sure if this is all worth it! I can’t imagine doing my legs or arms. Let’s just see how long this lasts.
